Its not easy being the King!

The king of the forest has a brutal and short life. The 10 years that a typical male Lion lives, are all about mating, protecting his pride, and fighting for territory with other Lions. Most male cubs don’t make it past 3 years, and many get killed by older male Lions who take over the pride – the lioness wont mate with the lion while she is nursing. Many of the older Lions will die in a fight with other younger Lions who come over to take the Pride. Any injuries that weaken the Lion will lead to death in the unforgiving wilderness. The end is painful and quick – like for most animals here.
