For the traditional Rabari women of Rajasthan, most aspectes of life are determined by their social norms.

The bangles on their hands indicate their marital status – only the married ones, and whose husbands are alive, are allowed to wear it. The colourful dresses and the jewellery are  part of their everyday dressing.

They are the caretakers of the house and the camps, and take great pride in their spaces. There is always tea and food for the guests. Even through they travel for months on the road, their clothes are always clean and washed.

Their lives are simple, and days are busy and vigorous – maybe that is the key to their bright smiles.
